APCDI is a national, not-for-profit organisation that brings together practitioners, community members, trainers, educators, and researchers to strengthen and sustain participatory community development across Australia.
Shaping a national voice for participatory community development in Australia, the Institute exists through the power of dialogue and building structures by people, for people.
Since the early 2000s, many practitioners, community members, and academics have held a shared concern about the growing threats to participatory community development practice disempowering people to act on their own concerns. What began as a quiet reflection and private discussions gradually became a collective resolve to act.
